Snippets: The Value of Community

Jump to Comments

“The reality of spiritual blindness has important implications for the Christian community. The Hebrews passage [3:13] clearly teaches that personal insight is the product of community. I need you in order to really see and know myself. Otherwise, I will listen to my own arguments, believe my own lies, and buy into my own delusions. My self-perception is as accurate as a carnival mirror. If I am going to see myself clearly, I need you to hold the mirror of God’s Word in front of me.”

~Paul David Tripp, in Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands (p. 54)

  • I like that. Sounds like another book that needs to go on my list. I thought of you yesterday morning. . .we ventured out to Starbucks and to see the new office building. . .I was going to call you and see if I could bring a coffee by to you, but I totally forgot by the time we got to Starbucks! {new-mommy-not-much-sleep brain apparently?}

    It was the thought that counted, right? :)

    • Awww…that’s sweet (except the forgetting part)! I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever. Maybe one of these days I’ll show up on your doorstep with a pumpkin spice latte and we’ll chat. =)
